Go Compare! Go Compare! God, I’d love to kick that guy square in the nuts! Who else is with me? Now, we all know that comparison sites on the web are big business and will allow you to make huge saving in time and money, no matter if you’re looking for insurance, holidays or mortgages. However, how do you know which comparison site is the best? Is there a comparison site comparison engine??? No. Well I thought it was about time someone looked into it and gave you, the consumer the rundown on where to go to make your savings.

Here is my top three comparison search engines. Feel free to comment if you don’t agree or think I’ve missed someone out.

3. Go Compare.com – Gocompare.com was established in Nov’ 2006 and is based in Newport, South Wales. The company’s owner and the chief executive officer is Hayley Parsons, who was formerly head of business development at the very successful Confused.com.

Gocompare.com was the front runner when it came to focusing on displaying product features rather than just listing prices. This led to Gocompare.com being invited to become a member of the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA).

Although, a great success story, the marketing campaign is really, really annoying. Hats off to Jimmy Carr for doing what needed to be done!

2. MoneySupermarket.com – The business was established in 1993 by Simon Nixon (who was a student at Nottingham University) and Duncan Cameron as a provider of off line mortgage information to Independent Financial Advisors under the name Mortgage 2000.

Since then the company developed an impressive array of well branded offshoots on line. In 1999 Nixon launched moneysupermarket.com. In 2003 insuresupermarket.com was launched and in 2004 travelsupermarket.com was launched. The company was then listed on the London Stock Exchange (the LSE) in the July of 2007. Since around late 2009, comedian Omid Djalili has appeared in adverts for moneysupermarket.com. Now, Omid Djalili is a funny guy and I love him in the commercials he does.

1. CompareMyHoliday.com – On this website you can compare holidays from many high street agent with offers for over 100k hotels. No matter if you are searching for cheap holidays to spain or luxury all inclusive holidays in Abu Dahbi this has to be the quickest and easiest way to find what you want. Doing a speed test against TravelSupermarket.com this search return more than 10 seconds faster in some cases. I searched for Gatwick to Antalya, all inclusive, 3 star on a certain date and CompareMyHoliday.com simply out performed. It even came back with much cheaper offers. The search box followed me around and kept my previous search, so tweaking the dates was so easy. Certainly the best holiday comparison website in the market today.
